Expanding all-sided Tatar-Chinese ties

Kazan Kremlin with the participation of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency hosted the meeting of the President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov with Chinese delegation headed by the mayor of Harbin Municipal People's government Mr. Song Xibin. 

"Harbin is a dynamically developing economic center of China. Thus, over the past year, the income of population have risen - the average salary increased by 7,2% in the city and 10% in the province. Harbin is the second city after Beijing in terms of air transportation to Russia, - Taliya Minullina noticed. - Both sides are seeking to establish cooperation. We agreed to arrange regular bilateral meetings and organize a working group. For the following year, Russian-Chinese weeks will take place from 1 to 16 August, aiming at the cultural exchange in which Tatarstan will take an active part.

Last year, the delegation of Tatarstan headed by the President and the head of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency took part in the II Russia-China EXPO in Harbin, where the countries signed 28 agreements in total. Cooperation has been achieved in the field of machinery, chemistry and gas-chemistry, light manufacturing, sports and tourism, education and culture. In the framework of the visit the President of Tatarstan met Mr. Lu Hao, the governor of Heilongjiang province, administrative center and the largest city of which is Harbin, and discussed prospects for cooperation with Сhinese business community.

It is worth noting that Tatarstan interacts with Chinese partners actively. Only since 2013 there were more than 30 official mutual visits at the highest level. Moreover, the plant on manufacture of mineral fertilizers "Ammoni" which was built with the direct participation of China's National Chemical-Engineering Corporation opened last February. In April, Chinese company "Haier" started mass production of refrigerators in Naberezhnye Chelny.

in Beijing, a trade and economic representative office of Tatarstan is functioning. China Consulate General in Kazan is planned for opening in the nearest future. Besides that, in early August charter flights started between Kazan and China's city Ürümqi and will last until October, 24. Also, on November 1, the official delegation of Tatarstan will visit Shanghai to take part in Russian-Chinese intergovernmental commission.
