Austria is interested in investment to Tatarstan

On May 12, Taliya Minullina, Chief Executive of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency, came with a working visit to Vienna (Austria), where she participated in work of Austrian-Tatarstan business forum and presented economic and investment potential of Tatarstan.

The event was held in the framework of visit of Tatarstan delegation, headed by the President Rustam Minnikhanov, to Austria.  Number of business meetings including meeting with the President of economy of Austria and representatives of country`s management, as well as infrastructure sites visit are planned in the course of two-day working visit.

At the opening of the Forum Christoph Leitl in his welcoming speech announced the Austria interest in investment to special economic zones of Tatarstan. The President of Austrian Chamber of economy emphasized that Tatarstan is an economically successful Russian region and Austria is ready to sign a special agreement on cooperation. According to him, forecast for 2017 is advantageous and it is necessary to be ready for implementation of joint projects.

“Despite of sanctions, we should promote the dialog and make an effort in peace and interaction consolidation. It is necessary to respond to modern challenges,” – said Christoph Leitl.

After the Forum Tatarstan delegation met Josef Saller, the President of the Austrian Federal Council (Chamber of regions – the upper house of parliament) in a historical building of Austrian  Parliament.

Josef Saller noted that Austria has always supported good relations with Russia and its regions, including Tatarstan. He reminded that at the recent session of Russian-Austrian intergovernmental commission it has also been mentioned.  

According to Josef Saller, relations in culture and tourism are the most high-potential. He also told that year of 2017 will be Russian and Austrian tourism Bilateral Year with a plenty of events in the framework of this year and promised to come with reciprocal visit to Tatarstan as a member of Austrian delegation in the nearest  future.

“Austria is an industrially developed agrarian country, relating to the number of the most developed countries in Europe. Austrian GDP per capita goes ahead of Sweden, United Kingdom, Italy, France and even Germany. The country has a wide production base and strong industry: chemical and petrochemical, electric engineering, textile industry, wood processing.  Tatarstan and Austria share many common interests, including business issues, staff training and education. Enterprises and Austrian projects are already operating in the republic.

Foreign trade turnover in the framework of trade-economic cooperation between Tatarstan and Austria at the end of 2015 comprised 49, 1 mln. euro.  There is a basis and potential for further relationships development. We are discussing issues on new projects promotion.  Such visits are rich in new business contacts and are an impulse for development of bilateral cooperation” – commented her visit to Vienna Taliya Minullina.
